About UDA

Founded by Jennifer Patten In 2009, Ugly Dog Adventures made its debut in the dog-walking market in Orange County, CA. Since then, UDA has taken the dog-walking industry by storm offering daily pack adventures for your furry family member. It is our mission to expand your dog’s horizons and help it become a better balanced dog by offering socialization, exercise, and training. We also give back to our community by working with local dog rescues to help socialize dogs for better adoptability.

We were featured in Bella Dog Magazine as a “Rockin’ New Concept in Doggie Daycare” in the summer 2010 issue and in the Orange County Register in 2021. Since the beginning we have strived to fill the void locally and offer a service for dogs where they could be socialized together and go out during the daytime while their pet parents work.

Personal Pets

Hemingway (“Hemi”)

Hemingway, fondly known as Hemi, is not just Jennifer’s service dog but also a full-time employee at Ugly Dog Adventures. For years, Hemi has been an essential part of the team, joining the pack walks daily and helping to evaluate new dogs to determine where they fit within the pack. Despite being 100% deaf and partially blind, Hemi exemplifies the type of training that Ugly Dog Adventures offers—lifestyle training that enables dogs to confidently accompany their owners anywhere, from downtown Los Angeles to a trip to Las Vegas. Hemi’s ability to navigate the world with ease, despite his challenges, serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the training methods we provide to our clients.

Angel the Dog Training Cat

Angel, a remarkable cat, has been assisting Larry in dog training for almost three years. Angel plays a unique role in helping dogs understand that interspecies relationships are important, and not something to be feared. With her fearless demeanor, Angel has worked with countless dogs, demonstrating that animals can coexist peacefully and even thrive together. By incorporating Angel into the training sessions, Larry helps dogs overcome any apprehension they might have towards cats, making her an invaluable part of the Ugly Dog Adventures team. Angel’s contributions underscore the importance of teaching dogs to tolerate and even embrace other species, a lesson that resonates deeply in the training programs we offer.
